What stays on your device

Your saved recipes, your cooking progress, your preferences, and your profile are stored on the device you are using. They are not uploaded to us.

What leaves your device

Two things, and only when you ask for them:

  • Saving a recipe. The address of the page you are saving is sent to our extraction service so the ingredients and steps can be read out of it. The page address is used for that request and is not kept afterwards.
  • Searching. Your search words are sent to our search provider to get results back. They are not tied to your account.

Your account

If you create an account, we hold your email address and the name you give us. We use it to identify your account and nothing else. You can delete your account at any time from your profile, and doing so removes that information.

What we do not do

No advertising identifiers. No selling or sharing of your information. No tracking you across other apps or websites. No analytics that identify you.

Recipes belong to their authors

Sift keeps a link to the original recipe on every card and shows the site it came from. Saved copies are for your own use.
